Wrestler Devon Carrillo Ranked First in the Country in Pins

The Wesleyan University wrestling team is having an incredible 2017-18 season thanks in large part to Devon Carrillo, who is currently ranked first in the country in pins.

Carrillo, in his third season with the program, has qualified for the NCAA Tournament the past two years and currently boasts an incredible 31-2 overall record. Most impressive are his 20 pins, which not only lead Division III but the entire country in all divisions. The top Division I wrestler has 15 pins while the top Division II wrestler has 14. The Middletown, Conn. native is also the No. 3 most dominant wrestler in D-III and is currently ranked No. 6 in the 197-pound weight class.

He is also ranked No. 1 in his weight class in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) rankings.
