Madeline Bledsoe Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

2018 Mar 2

Senior forward Madeline Bledsoe of the Wesleyan women's basketball team has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team selection for her combined performance on the court and in the classroom.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in March.

Bledsoe had a breakout senior campaign for the Cardinals. A neuroscience and behavior major, she owns a 3.62 GPA while also excelling on the court. She leads the NESCAC in rebounding by a significant margin and finished the year averaging a double-double with 10.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. She also averaged 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game and was named the NESCAC Player of the Week three times. Bledsoe recorded eight double-doubles this season and recorded double-digit rebounds in 15 of the team's 25 games. She also recorded 21 rebounds in a game twice. The Newton, Mass. native played a pivotal role in the team's 17-8 season in which they reached the NESCAC Semifinals as the No. 5 seed.
